1047 Games has just announced a sequel to their popular free to play multiplayer FPS Splitgate, due for release next year on PC and consoles.
While the announcement trailer is purely cinematic and it doesn’t showcase any gameplay footage, it seems that the developers are keeping the original game’s portal-based gameplay for the sequel, which is a very smart move if you ask me, as it’s the thing that differentiated Splitgate from the competition. Apparently Splitgate 2 will introduce three factions to the mix, each offering its own progression path based on the player’s “preferred gameplay style or competitive strategies”.
The game is expected to launch with a large amount of playable arenas, weapons and modes, and there’s solo and team based options available so everyone feels welcome to at least give it a spin when it launches in 2025.
