Microprose Reveals Tactical FPS Dagger Directive

MicroProse revealed today that they are publishing Arcane Alpacas‘ upcoming Delta Force-inspired tactical FPS Dagger Directive.

The game features retro-inspired graphics and a mix of modern techniques and old school tactical shooter gameplay. The reveal trailer gave me some really heavy Delta Force vibes and I couldn’t be happier, as NovaLogic‘s beloved series is now being turned into a Battlefield competitor with an added extraction shooter mode (not throwing shade on that, it could turn out to be a great game, it’s just not what I think of when I think “Delta Force“)

We don’t yet have a release window for this project, but it’s been really nice seeing MicroProse picking up all sorts of titles that really remind me of the old days.

You’re part of Task Force Dagger, an elite international special forces unit. Engage in three distinct campaigns to save the world. Customize your approach to each mission—select your gear, choose the time of day, and decide whether to go in guns blazing or stealthily. The choice is entirely yours.

Campaigns: Embark on global missions across three unique campaigns. Battle eco-terrorists in the Bering Sea, disrupt international crime syndicates in the South Pacific, and combat extreme nationalism in Eastern Europe.

Equipment: Access a vast arsenal of weapons, attachments, and gear. Opt for the recommended loadout or tailor your own to suit your style. Whether you prefer to move slowly and silently with an MP5SD, charge in with an M4 and underbarrel shotgun, or take out targets from a distance with a sniper rifle, the armory has you covered. Your only constraints are weight and inventory space.

Simulation: Experience realistic ballistics where every bullet and piece of shrapnel considers mass, distance, velocity, and gravity. Use binoculars to measure the range, adjust your scope for the target’s speed and direction, and take the perfect shot. Be cautious with grenades; they don’t just explode—they send out hundreds of fragments that can ricochet unpredictably.

Environments: Leverage the expansive mission areas, time of day, and natural cover to your advantage. Hide in shadows, disable lights, and move through tall grass to stay hidden. Plan your mission start time carefully and equip yourself not just for the beginning, but for changing conditions. The last thing you want is to prepare to exclusively fight in daytime and then find yourself battling bad guys in night time.
