I’m using Unity version 2022.3.23f1
I’m using Visual Studio Community 2022 version 17.11.1
The issue is, when I have VStudio open and I create a new script in the Unity Editor and open the new script. When I go to type something like Start or Update, normally it will auto complete it for me.
Some extra context is that I know why it’s not auto-completing, because for some reason when I open a new script while VStudio is open it doesn’t take the using statements i.e using UnityEngine etc. All of sudden it’s not doing that anymore. I’m not sure why this happens other than it started the other day after I updated to the previous version of VStudio Community (17.11.0 I think). Only when I completely close VStudio and reopen it does it recognize the using statements and then everything works fine. Another small problem is that I don’t know if this is a Unity issue or a VS issue, hints why I came here in the hope that someone that uses both could help.

Apple will change how users choose browser options in the European Union, add a dedicated section for changing default apps, and make more apps deletable, the company said on Thursday. From a report: The iPhone maker came under pressure from regulators to make changes after the EU’s sweeping Digital Markets Act took effect on March 7, forcing it to offer mobile users the ability to select from a list of available web browsers on a “choice screen” the first time they open Safari. In an update later this year, Apple users will be able to select a default browser directly from the choice screen after going through a mandatory list of options.
A randomly ordered list of 12 browsers per EU country will be shown to the user with short descriptions, and the chosen one will be automatically downloaded, Apple said. The choice screen will also be available on iPads through an update later this year. Apple released a previous update in response to the new rules in March, but browser companies criticized the design of its choice screen, and the Commission opened an investigation on March 25 saying it suspected that the measures fell short of effective compliance. […] Users will also be able to delete certain Apple-made apps such as App Store, Messages, Camera, Photos and Safari.
MachineGames and Bethesda Softworks revealed this week that Indiana Jones and the Great Circle will be released on December 9, 2024 for PC and Xbox consoles. A PlayStation 5 version will hit at some point in Spring 2025 which is great news for anyone who isn’t deeply invested in the always ongoing platform wars.
Preorders are already live, and I regret to report we are indeed in the presence of yet another US$69.99 title. I know it’s now “the new normal” for these big triple A productions, but my wallet doesn’t feel any better knowing that (and my salary sure hasn’t improved enough for anyone who wants to come at me with “oh but inflation!” remarks). The new Gamescom trailer looks Indiana Jones-y enough to me, with plenty of Nazi punching action and a really well done model of Harrison Ford’s younger days face. I’m not sold on the voice acting (nothing against Troy Baker, he’s a really talented actor doing a great job, as usual, I’m just too used to hearing Harrison Ford’s voice in the movies) but everything else is right up my alley so I’ll try to get my hands on a launch copy probably and you might be hearing my thoughts on the matter.
Hopefully it does well and MachineGames can finish their Wolfenstein reboot trilogy because it’s been a while and I miss Blazko.

AMD launched all four of its new Zen 5 CPUs in August, and overall it seems like it was kind of a disaster for the company. With Intel’s Raptor Lake on the ropes over the ongoing instability issues, AMD was expected to enter the ring and deliver an easy KO to Intel and Zen 4. Instead, reviewers found AMD’s Zen 5 chips delivered befuddling results, making the launch a confusing affair. AMD is now attempting to clarify the situation in a new blog post, saying there are myriad reasons why its numbers differed from reviewers’ results.
The gist of AMD’s blog post is that the PC ecosystem is a complicated place, with a huge swath of different types of games new and old, and a huge variety of hardware involved, so results may vary. AMD states its own results showed decent generation-to-generation improvements for Zen 5 compared with both Zen 4 and Intel’s CPUs, depending on the application. However, that’s not what reviewers saw, and AMD says there are a few reasons for this.
First, in gaming, AMD says its numbers showed a 9% uplift at 1080p compared with Zen 4 and 6% compared with Intel’s CPUs. AMD stipulates this is not what reviewers saw, though, as some saw no actual gains for Zen 5 in gaming compared with Zen 4 and Intel’s chips.

The first reason for the discrepancy is that performance varies depending on which games are being tested. The second reason is its internal Intel systems were tested using a baseline power profile, as opposed to a more high-powered profile, which some reviewers used. Its Intel systems also used DDR5-6000 memory, which is slower than some memory kits available for Intel systems. Third, AMD tests with Windows Virtualization-based Security (VBS) enabled—but not all reviewers use this setting, which can affect gaming performance.
Finally—and possibly most importantly—AMD says its automated testing for Zen 5 used an “Admin mode” for Windows 11 that reviewers didn’t have access to. This makes no sense at all, but that’s what AMD wrote. It says this mode is optimized to take advantage of Zen 5’s wider prediction path, but end users will shortly be able to access this mode via a Windows Update.
Given the above caveats, AMD has revised its performance numbers for its Zen 5 CPUs compared with Zen 4 and Intel’s Raptor Lake refresh CPUs. For gaming, when compared with an Intel system using faster memory, extreme power delivery, and optimized settings, AMD has revised its numbers from a 6% uplift to zero, or “parity” in AMD’s words. Compared with Zen 4, AMD now claims a 5-8% uplift in 1080p gaming versus 9% before. Productivity apps see a ~10% uplift, and AI applications get a ~25% boost.

Finally, AMD says the Admin mode will be available soon to customers running Windows 11 24H2. Currently, it’s only available in the preview channel. Admin mode appears to offer some tangible benefits in gaming, ranging from a 13% boost in some games to no change. AMD says the mode can benefit Zen 4 and Zen 3 users, too, but Zen 5 customers will see the biggest benefit. It says it’s working with Microsoft to get this to all Windows 11 users as soon as possible.
Overall, we’re sure the hardcore PC community that pays attention to this stuff appreciates AMD’s candor. But there is no denying it’s a bit of a disappointment to see AMD revise its numbers downward post-launch, as it’s something we can’t ever remember a company having to do before. Even with AMD’s clarifications, this launch clearly hasn’t gone the way AMD intended, and it will no doubt leave a bitter taste in the mouths of even AMD’s most ardent supporters. It’s especially disappointing given Intel’s current troubles. AMD should have been able to clean its rival’s clock, but it ended up stepping on a rake instead.

This feature joins the new ability to restore data from an old phone at any time.
One of the most annoying things about getting a new Android phone has traditionally been transferring data from an old device. This can take a long time, but it turns out the Pixel 9 phones speed things up with a nifty approach.
Analyst Max Weinbach noted on X that you can simultaneously use Wi-Fi and a cable when transferring data from an old phone to the Pixel 9 series. He also observed that you can plug in the cable “at any point” and the phones will take advantage of the wired connection.
This is good news as it should deliver a significant speed boost on paper for data migration. This is also an improvement over the previous method of using a wired connection, which required you to first tap the image on the “copy apps and data” screen five times.
It’s not the first time we’ve heard Google was working on simultaneous wired/wireless data migration, either. We first discovered evidence of this feature via an APK teardown in May, so this has clearly been in the works for a while.
This isn’t the only data migration improvement available on the Pixel 9 series. You can now choose to restore data from your old phone to the Pixel 9 series at any time. By contrast, previous Pixels only let you restore data during the initial setup process.

Asus has unveiled its initial X870E and X870 motherboard lineup at Gamescom 2024. Asus’s regular model tiers are represented, with the ROG, Strix, TUF, ProArt and Prime families all featuring X870/E models. All are compatible with Ryzen 9000-series CPUs out of the box, and all support up-to-date feature sets, including USB4 and WiFi 7.
As you’d expect in this day and age, Asus has incorporated several auto-optimizing ‘AI’ features including AI Networking II, AI Overclocking and AI Cooling II. They include CPU and DRAM overclocking enhancements with more granular controls along with notably robust VRM designs. Various models also support multiple PCIe 5.0 SSDs.

The flagship option is the ROG Crosshair X870E Hero. It looks like a ROG board for sure, with long list of features. It comes with a very strong 18+2+2 phase VRM with 110A stages, which even a heavily overclocked Ryzen 9 9950X won’t challenge. Add to that support for DDR5-8200+, up to three Gen 5 SSDs, dual USB4, USB 20Gbps with 60W PD, WiFi 7, dual LAN and the typical ROG overclocking features and flourishes, and this is sure to be a solid offering.
Asus hasn’t revealed a price as of yet, but expect this one and Asus’ other offerings to cost more than their X670 counterparts.
Next up are four ROG Strix offerings including the ROG Strix Z870-I Gaming WiFi. Asus’ X670E-I version is our pick for best Mini-ITX motherboard, so unless Asus really dropped the ball, the X870-I is sure to be a contender for the throne.
The ROG Strix X870-F Gaming and X870-A Gaming are sure to be popular offerings. They include most of the goodies of the more expensive Hero.

A little further down the range comes the Asus TUF Gaming X870-Plus WiFi. This one features a unique blocky-looking aesthetic that I personally find quite appealing. It still includes WiFi 7, USB4 and dual Gen 5 SSD support.

The TUF brand has evolved from its original military theme with a focus on reliability into more of a budget gaming brand. If the Z870-Plus WiFi is priced right, It could be a really competitive mid range offering.

The ProArt X870E Creator WiFi is aimed at creators. It comes with a 3 month Adobe Creative Cloud subscription which is a decent value add. It’s packed with USB ports and it includes 10G LAN alongside 2.5G LAN and WiFi 7.
I love its black and gold design, though I’d expect this one to cost a pretty penny indeed. Still, it’ll be considered cheap when compared to workstation class options.

Finally there’s Asus’ mainstream Prime family. Both the Prime X870-P WiFi and Prime X870-P appear mostly identical, though the latter’s name obviously means it lacks WiFi 7, and indeed it doesn’t include WiFi at all, which is a bit odd in this day and age.
Both boards still have decent feature lists, with Gen 5 SSD support and USB4. Interestingly, the X870-P WiFi includes four PCIe expansion slots. Unless my eyes fail me, it’s the only Asus X870 board to feature that many.

These are just the first of many X870E and X870 boards to launch. They’ll be better suited to the high end models such as the Ryzen 9 9950X and Ryzen 9 9900X. There’s nothing stopping you from buying such a board to use with a Ryzen 5 9600X or Ryzen 7 9700X, but they’ll be more logically paired with upcoming B850 motherboards.
We don’t have any word on pricing, but Asus not known for its aggressive pricing. With the electrical complexities inherent to boards with PCIe 5.0 GPU and SSD support, faster RAM support and stronger VRM solutions, I’m expecting X870 boards from all manufacturers to be expensive.
