Studio Trigger Rolls Out With a Mysterious Transformers Anime Project

Along with Hollywood’s massive live-action movies, the Transformers have been cutting up on the small screen with multiple TV shows over the years. While Transformers: Earthspark’s second season just hit Paramount+ back in June, something brand new appears to be waiting in the wings.

Earlier in the week, anime studio Trigger (best known for Promare, Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, and Delicious in Dungeon) revealed it was working on something to celebrate the popular toy franchise’s newest benchmark. The Robots in Disguise turn 40 this year, and the short teaser features some brief glimpses of series mascots Optimus Prime and Megatron (plus Bumblebee and Hot Rod) in the famous G1 versions of their iconic designs, and Trigger’s reimagining of those. (Interestingly, some eagle-eyed viewers spotted Optimus from Transformers Animated!) But as far as what Trigger is specifically making—like a simple celebration video or something bigger like an intro for an unannounced game—is currently under wraps.

Transformers and animationn have always been tight, but this marks the franchise’s third time dipping into actual anime following Transformers: Cybertron in 2005 and the Japan-only Transformers Go! in 2015. Conversely, Trigger is no stranger to the mecha scene: beginning with 2018’s Darling in the Franxx, it’s worked on mecha projects under the Gridman series. Given the studio’s larger pedigree, it’ll be exciting to see what Trigger’s doing for the franchise’s birthday, because you know it’ll look good as hell.

While we wait for more information on this mysterious Transformers venture, Transformers One may scratch any itch you have for some good animated material from the franchise. That movie hits theaters on September 20, and you can look forward to our review closer to release.

The Forever Winter Will Hit Early Access on September 24

Fun Dog Studios revealed today that The Forever Winter will get an Early Access release on September 24, 2024.

The announcement video highlights how the development team is going to handle the game’s future, and in a very refreshing and authentic manner, promises to not nickle and dime players with pay to win “enhancements” as many other similar titles do, as well as to never charge for new characters, maps, guns, bosses or anything of the sort. The only extra purchases players can expect are skin packs to further support the devs, which is pretty nice if you ask me. Speaking of money, the game will cost US$27 at the launch of the Early Access version.

Fun Dog Studios is also doing another very good thing that almost no one else does in the extraction shooter genre, by providing the option to play with friends locally or via peer to peer hosting, which allows playing even if servers are overloaded (and solo play as well, of course).

You’re A Small Fish In A Big Apocalypse.

Scavenge and fight for your next day alive under the shadow of gargantuan war machines. Enemies in the game can literally tower over the battlefield.

War. War Always Changes.

The battlefield is unpredictable thanks to The Forever Winter’s Dynamic Encounter system: enemies have their own goals and agendas, operating in coordinated groups, undertaking full-scale battles — and they’ll intelligently react to your actions. The battlefield you leave won’t be the same one you return to.

Only The Smart Survive – But Guns Help.

Use your wits, stealth, and skilled gunplay to make it out alive. Choose your path in the shadow of the two great superpowers, loot the dead, and make it out alive. While the warring factions may ignore you at first, the more disruptive you become to their goals, the more they’ll seek to remove you from the equation.

A Grim Vision Of The Future.

Ecological collapse compounded by runaway technological advancement brought us here: a world choked by 40 years of industrial-scale violence between two military superpowers, unmerciful mass killing by AI automata, human-machine hybrids, and the bleak truth of human nature. There’s two sides to this war, and you’re not on either.

Baldur’s Gate 3’s beefy patch 7 will finally drop next week

At the end of a PAX West panel looking back on the development and reception of Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian boss Swen Vincke revealed that the game’s highly anticipated Patch 7 will finally arrive next week after months of teasers and playtesting.

We first heard about Patch 7 back in April, and the marquee additions are official mod support and overhauled evil endings. On the modding front, we won’t be seeing a full campaign-building toolset like Divinity: Original Sin 2 had, but BG3’s tools and support will make it far easier to create and install custom classes, UI elements, spells, QoL fixes, dice, and more. Further, the official tools will hopefully make it less likely that future patches—Larian has said it’s almost, but not quite done tweaking BG3—will bork your mods or modded saves. Patch 7 definitely will though, at least until mod authors catch up, so watch out for that.

My Ride-or-Die Water Bottle Is Now Up to 50% Off for Labor Day

I never go anywhere without my water bottle, to the point where I consider it a security blanket of sorts. Essentially, I never want to be dehydrated, and this water bottle guarantees that with its 40-ounce capacity. I’m talking about the Hydro Flask Wide Mouth Stainless Steel Water Bottle, which I received as a gift at a previous job in 2021. I’ve been using and loving it ever since.

The best part is that Hydro Flask is currently part of a Labor Day sale on Amazon, down from $50 by as much as 50%, depending on what color you get.

Now, you may think that 40 ounces sounds like a bit much, but I actually prefer the larger size. While it doesn’t fit in my car cup holders (though you can buy a car cup holder expander), I genuinely don’t mind because I prefer having a larger volume of water at my disposal. Knowing that I’ll never be dehydrated or have to buy a disposable water bottle is comforting.

Hydro Flask is also perfect on a hot day since it keeps drinks cold for 24 hours — even when sitting inside my car while it bakes in the sun. Though I’ve only used it for cold water, you can use the bottle for hot drinks, which it will keep hot for up to 12 hours. I’ve also never had issues with the water bottle leaking, though I’m diligent about tightening the cap before I throw it on my passenger seat.

When it comes time to clean your Hydro Flask, you simply have to toss it in the dishwasher. However, once the appliance does its job, I will often use a bottle brush to give my Hydro Flask an extra scrub. After three years of using and dish-washing this bottle, it ‘ still in amazing condition, aside from some slight discoloration on the carrying loop.

Speaking of the carrying loop, if you have one of the smaller versions (such as the 20- or 32-ounce), you may even be able to clip the bottle onto your purse or backpack comfortably. However, my 40-ounce bottle is too large for that.

The last feature I love about this Hydro Flask is the wide mouth. I dislike water bottles with built-in straws because they are difficult to clean and can easily trap bacteria. That is not a problem with my Hydro Flask, which is effortless to drink from and has no crevices that are tough to get clean.

If you are looking for a new water bottle to support all your hydration needs, I highly recommend you take advantage of this Labor Day deal. The 20-ounce Hydro Flask is also discounted up to 40%, while the 32-ounce version is up to 50% off.

Cheers!

Judge denies Media Matters’ motion to dismiss X’s not-libel lawsuit

A Texas judge denied Media Matters for America’s request for a dismissal on Thursday allowing X’s lawsuit over alleged anti-semitic and racist content. The Verge reported that Northern District of Texas Judge Reed O’Connor dismissed the request for a dismissal paving the way for X’s lawsuit against Media Matters to continue.

Media Matters submitted its dismissal request in early March on the grounds that X’s case lacked “personal jurisdiction,” an “improper venue” and the “failure to state a claim.” O’Connor dismissed all of those claims, according to court records.

The lawsuit filed last year in federal court seeks damages from the media watchdog group over “maliciously manufactured” images reporting that X’s platform placed Neo-Nazi and white-nationlist content next to advertisers’ images causing advertisers to flee the site. The images Media Matters used weren’t manufactured but X’s claim is that its dogged pursuit of ads’ placement with racist content by using certain accounts to bypass ad filters caused irreparable harm to the social media giant.

X owner Elon Musk’s other companies are located in Texas but aren’t directly connected to the Media Matters lawsuit. X closed its San Francisco offices earlier this month and owner Elon Musk announced in July that X’s headquarters will move to Austin. Tesla moved its headquarters from California to the Lone Star State in 2021 and SpaceX from Delaware earlier this year when a judge threw out a $56 billion pay package from the state.

However, in dismissing the personal jurisdiction argument, O’Connor noted that two of X’s “blue-chip” advertisers like AT&T and Oracle included in Media Matters’ coverage are based in Texas. He cited the landmark 2002 Internet defamation case Revell v. Lidov quoting the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals’ assertion that “if you are going to pick a fight in Texas, it is reasonable to expect that it be settled there.”

Visual Studio 17, 19, 22, Windows 10 or 11 pro: Error Unable to remove directory “bin\Debug\app.publish\”

Windows 10 or 11 pro, Visual Studio 2022 and previous versions:(c#)
I have been using VS sporadically over the years, and now and then I get the error:
“Error Unable to remove directory “bin\Debug\app.publish”. Access to the path ‘bin\Debug\app.publish’ is denied”.
The program is ok, except that it can not be run.

After searching and reading many suggestions, most of which refer to older VS versions, the only remedy I found that worked for me for all projects was to move the whole VS program from drive C: to drive D: (or any other than C).
This is not the best solution, as it is out of the default setup, and very inconvenient.
Is there another proven solution to this problem on drive C:?
Thanks

Top court orders ban on Elon Musk’s X in Brazil

A top court in Brazil ordered an immediate, country-wide suspension of the X platform on Friday after a months-long legal battle with Elon Musk’s social media company over content moderation, according to Bloomberg.

The court added that anyone using VPN to access the X platform would be subject to daily fines of 50,000 reais — $8,900 — though it’s not clear how it would enforce the decree.

Earlier this month, X closed its operations in Brazil in protest against court orders asking it to remove accounts that allegedly spread misinformation. At the time, the company said Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes “threatened our legal representative in Brazil with arrest if we do not comply with his censorship orders.” Moraes warned X earlier this week that Brazil would ban the service if the company did not name a legal representative in the country.

“Soon, we expect Judge Alexandre de Moraes will order X to be shut down in Brazil, simply because we would not comply with his illegal orders to censor his political opponents,” said X’s global affairs team in a tweet Friday morning.

The platform says it will publish the Brazilian top court’s demands in the coming days and will not comply with its orders.

Brazil bans X for refusing to comply with Supreme Court order

Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes has ordered the nation’s internet service providers to block the social media platform X. The New York Times reports that the order stems from owner Elon Musk’s refusal to appoint a legal representative for his case and comply with Moraes’ order to shut down X accounts he deemed as harmful to the democratic process. The order has been published online by Brazilian news site Poder 360.

The justice issued a deadline to telecom companies and tech giants to remove the X from its app stores and platforms. Apple and Google have five days to take down the social media app from its app stores. Brazil’s telecommunication’s agency Anatel has confirmed it has received the order, and ISPs in the country have just 24 hours to comply with the order.

Justice Moraes’ order doesn’t just block the country’s access to X. It also makes it a crime to use the app through a virtual private network (VPN). Anyone caught accessing X with a VPN could face a daily fine of 50,000 Brazilian Real (around $8,900).

Justice Moraes also froze the Brazillian bank accounts of SpaceX’s Starlink internet service provider on Thursday to further pressure Musk to comply with the court’s order. SpaceX, like X, is a private company majority owned by Musk, and X has $3 million in unpaid fines related to its case in the country. The day before, Justice Moraes issued a threat to ban the X platform entirely across Brazil if the social media company did not appoint a legal representative in the country. The deadline passed without any change to the court’s docket so the judge followed through on his promise.

Starlink expressed its disapproval with the order, vowing to fight the ruling. It even threatened to make its services free to customers to subvert the justice’s order.

The legal fight between Justice Moraes and Musk has been fuming for months. The Supreme Court Judge is also Brazil’s electoral authority and has been monitoring and issuing orders to candidates to steer clear of spreading false information through internet and social media channels.

Brazil’s 2022 presidential election between infamous incumbent Jair Bolsonaro and challenger and former President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva was reportedly filled with attempts to present voters with false information. Justice Moraes was, until recently, president of the nation’s Superior Electoral Court, which gave him the power to order takedowns of content that violated previous court orders. The judge issued a similar block of the messaging app Telegram for failing to freeze offending accounts, which was lifted after compliance.

Musk characterized Moraes’ directives to take down or freeze similar misinformation accounts from X as “censorship orders.” Earlier this month, Musk expressed his continued refusal to comply with the court by closing X’s Brazilian office in order “to protect the safety of our staff.” X’s Global Governments Affairs team also promised to publish all of “Judge de Moraes’ illegal demands and all related court filings.”
